Guardians of the Ocean
"Tiaki Moana – Guardians of the Ocean" follows two inspiring Young Pacific Leaders, Anuata and Ihirau, to a unique ocean summit in French Polynesia in March 2025.
Anuata and Ihirau are from Tahiti and have a deep connection to their ocean – a central source of life and, at the same time, a link to their ancestors. In March 2025, they will join 40 other young people from 22 Pacific island nations for the Tiaki Moana Summit. On their journey from Mo’orea to Taputapuātea, and through exchanges with a diverse range of voices from the Pacific, the experience becomes a profound transformation – friendships are forged, traditional knowledge is revitalised, and a shared vision for the future of the ocean is strengthened.
Tiaki Moana is a story of hope, solidarity and commitment to protecting the vast Pacific Ocean – underpinned by indigenous knowledge, youth leadership and collective action.
